The classic Dutch sailing ship the Zeelandia is not equipped with luxuriously huts, showers or bars, but traditionally and comfortable. Obviously basics like water, a kitchen, stove, central heating, restrooms and good beds are available. To join a trip it is not necessary to have any sailing experience. The captain and its wife will coach you through a unique sailing experience. However if preferred you might as well relax and watch traditional sailing from a sideline. The most common sailing area for the Zeelandia is the “Waddenzee” from the island “Texel” to Rottumeroog”

The arrangements have been intended for companies, institutions, associations, friends and schools. Besides renting the ship they can use of knowledge and skills of the captains. This has conducted up to a number of arrangements, where the passengers input appreciated with regard to the interpretation. History
The Zeelandia has been built in 1905, on the shipyard of “Kalkman” at Capelle a/d IJssel. As a sailing cargo liner, the Zeelandia. De Family “van der Klooster” has bought the ship in ± 1930 and the named it Zeelandia. The ship has sailed up to 1977 freight. Its freight was beetroots and cattle feed and the sailing area was Belgium and the Netherlands. Miel has bought the ship turned it around in the original state as it is today a sailing ship.

Group journeys
Sailing at the Zeelandia is suitable for companies, nature - and sport associations, groups friends, families etc. Companies who would like to improve their team spirit the ship suits ferry well for teambuilding.We also offer workshops making sculptures presented by Hennie. Hennie is expressive artist who is inspired by the “Wad”. Surrounded by a beautiful nature and an aspiring scenery. Based on de experience and interest of the passengers topics could be self-portrait or landscapes.

Langweekend Schelpen zoeken op Schier
A travel with surprises, Friday morning departures harbor  “Lauwersoog” heading for the island of “Schiermonnikoog”. Tour in the “Shells Museum” with explanation what you can find at the beaches of Schiermonnikoog. In the evening we will determine we our finds. Sunday we will sail back to Lauwersoog. The cook is Petra.

Price: € 225 includin food, drinks ur fiets, musea enterance fee.
Dates: 30 april 1 en 2 mei, donderdagavond inschepen 20.00 uur, 2 mei 16.00 uur.
Port of departure: departure and arival at Lauwersoog.

A week at the Wadden
Live the “Wadden” in all its facets. The  “Wad” is on of the Netherlands last untouched rural areas. Altering between land and sea due to the tide. The wad is continuously in movement. Sailing on the wad you adapt to the grill of nature.

Wadden lang weekend naar Rottumeroog
Begin van de herfst, de vogels hebben het in het noorden wel gezien en trekken naar het zuiden. De dagen worden korter. Wil je deze speciale sfeer op de Wadden meemaken? In het najaar is de Waddenzee vol met vogels, die hier overwinteren of op doorreis zijn naar warmere streken. Met deze tocht gaan we wind en weder dienende naar dit unieke stukje Nederland. Dit betekent veel droogvallen, en wadlooptochten over zand-slikplaaten. Op Rotumeroog is er een excursie van de plaatwachter. Onze natuurdeskundige is Harry Horn, onze kok is Petra.

Wadden education
Van excursies op het Wad tot een werkweek voor scholen. Het onderdeel Wadeducatie heeft vooral veel praktische mogelijkheden. Op de eilanden, al varende, maar natuurlijk ook tijdens het droogvallen kunnen de schipper en zijn vrouw u een rondleiding geven. Bij het droogvallen is er de mogelijkheid om te wadlopen vanaf het schip. Tijdens de toch verzamelen we materiaal, waarmee later een aquarium gemaakt kan worden. Zo kunnen we zeesterren, zeeanemonen, kokkels etc. op ons gemak aan boord bestuderen. Ook is er documentatie aan boord om schelpen of andere diersoorten op te zoeken.
